Denton, the seat of Caroline County, is steeped in history. The Town began as a tiny settlement on the Choptank River about 1781. It quickly became a trade center for a fairly wide agricultural area. In the days when commerce between the Eastern Shore and Baltimore was chiefly by water, Denton Wharf on the Choptank River was a busy loading point. Today, Denton still welcomes commerce. Located on the river, the charming town is a perfect place to live and work. Come see our “treasures”, relax and enjoy shopping and dining in our downtown.

(1-11-2021) Denton Board of Appeals Vacancy
The Board of Appeals consists of three individuals and one alternate who are appointed by the Denton Town Council to hear and decide appeals for special exceptions, variances, and alleged errors or determinations.
Applicant must be a resident of the Town of Denton and be able to attend meetings the second Monday of the month at 6:30 p.m., as needed.
Persons interested in serving on the Denton Board of Appeals should submit letters of interest to the Town Administrator, Town of Denton, 4 N. Second Street, Denton, MD 21629, by February 15, 2021. Call (410) 479-3625 for additional information.

    Governor Hogan Announces Extension of Homeowners’ and Renters’ Property Tax Credit Deadlines

    Governor Larry Hogan today announced that the Maryland State Department of Assessments and Taxation (SDAT) is extending the deadline to apply for 2020 Homeowners’ and Renters’ Property Tax Credits from October 1 to October 31. These two tax credit programs save Marylanders more than $65 million per year, with homeowners receiving an average credit of $1,348 on their tax bill and renters receiving an average direct payment of $414. Applications can be submitted online through Maryland OneStop.
