Planning Commission

The Planning Commission is a permanent working group made up of five individuals and one alternate who are appointed by the Town Council to review and act on matters related to planning and development of our Town. The Planning Commission recommends goals and policies to the Town Council for directing and managing future growth and development. In addition, the Planning Commission reviews site plan and subdivision applications. Applicant must be a resident of the Town of Denton and be able to attend regularly scheduled monthly meetings on the last Tuesday of the month and workshops as needed on the second Tuesday of the month.
Persons interested in serving on the Denton Planning Commission as an Alternate Member should fill out the Volunteer Interest Form and is encouraged to also submit resumes and letters of interest to the Town Administrator, 4 North Second Street, Denton, MD 21629. Planning Commission

1) reviews, evaluates, and approves or disapproves plans for subdivisions, and mobile home subdivisions; 2) reviews and makes recommendations to the Town Council regarding proposed changes or amendments to the Denton Comprehensive Plan, proposed text amendments to the Zoning Ordinance, proposed rezoning, proposed changes or amendments to land subdivision, proposed acquisition and development of lands for Town open space or recreation purposes, proposed changes in land use or development arising from local, state, or federal programs or policies and development site plans. The commission meets the last Tuesday of every month at 6:00 p.m. in the Denton Town Office building.

The term of office of each member is five (5) years or until the member's successor takes office.
